The college campus is situated on the east side of Rangpur cantonment, with the Dhaka-Rangpur highway passing by its main gate. Over the years, Rangpur Medical College has produced numerous renowned doctors and scientists who have made significant contributions both nationally and internationally.

In addition to its academic facilities, the college boasts modern amenities such as an auditorium, hostels for male and female students, a post-graduate student hostel, and separate intern hostels. The campus also includes a nursing institute, an institute of nuclear medicine and allied sciences, a morgue, staff quarters, a mosque, a Shaheed Minar, and a spacious playground. In 2020, a magnificent college gate and Bangabandhu Mural were added to enhance the campus.

The college library is well-stocked with medical textbooks from various faculties. Notably, it features a special "Mujib Gallery" dedicated to the photobiography and books on Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

Rangpur Medical College offers MBBS and BDS courses under Rajshahi Medical University. Admission to these courses is based on a nationwide admission test conducted by the Directorate General of Health Services. The college also admits students from foreign countries. Each year, 230 students are admitted to the MBBS program and 50 students to the BDS program.

For post-graduate studies, the college offers residency courses (M.D and M.S) in medicine, surgery, pediatrics, and gynecology under Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU). Additionally, there are M.Phil and Diploma courses available in various subjects. Rangpur Medical College is affiliated with the Bangladesh College of Physicians and Surgeons (BCPS) for post-graduate training across all faculties.

The college is equipped with a large and separate basic science building. Initially, the hospital was housed in the Rangpur Sadar Hospital building until a new 1000-bed hospital was established. The hospital now includes a new extension building and provides dedicated corona services to the community, including a 24x7 RT PCR lab, a corona isolation center, and a gynecology corona unit, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic.
