Situated on a sprawling 15-acre campus adjacent to MATs, Comilla Medical College was founded with the vision of ensuring access to quality healthcare for the growing population. The foundation stone was laid in the then MAT's building, and in the academic year of 1981-82, the college welcomed its first batch of 50 students in the M.B.B.S program.

However, the journey of Comilla Medical College faced a turning point when the government decided to suspend its operations and instead establish a 250-bed hospital at the acquired site. In 1987, the construction work for the hospital commenced, and after four years of dedicated efforts, the hospital was inaugurated on January 11, 1992.

Recognizing the importance of clinical training for the students, the hospital underwent a transformation without any infrastructural changes. It was renamed as "Comilla Medical College Hospital" and became an integral part of the college. This step ensured that the students studying at Comilla Medical College had access to a fully functional hospital for their practical training.

Comilla Medical College and Hospital was established on November 28, 1979 with the aim of providing modern medical services to the people of Greater Comilla and Noakhali region in Dhaka Chittagong. The college started with 50 students in the first year of the M.B.B.S program, and later the government decided to suspend the college operations and instead set up a 250-bed hospital at the acquired site. Construction work for the hospital began in 1987 and was completed in 1991, with the hospital opening on January 11, 1992.

To ensure proper clinical training for the students, the hospital was transformed into a medical college hospital without any infrastructural changes. It was renamed as "Comilla Medical College Hospital". The infrastructural development work for establishing a full-fledged Medical College Hospital was completed and handed over on July 24, 2008.
