History and Naming
The college began its journey in the academic year 2014-2015 with an initial batch of only 50 students. Originally named "Manikganj Medical College", it was later renamed Colonel Malek Medical College to honor the late Colonel M. A. Malek, a renowned social worker and father of the former Minister of Health and Family Welfare, Zahid Maleque.
Today, the college has fully shifted to its permanent, state-of-the-art campus, which features a massive multi-story academic building and a 500-bed modern General Hospital.
Academic Programs & Seat Capacity
Currently, Colonel Malek Medical College allocates 75 seats annually for local students through the national medical admission test (seat numbers are subject to government updates).
The college offers a 5-year MBBS course followed by a 1-year compulsory logbook-based rotating internship, strictly following the curriculum of the Bangladesh Medical and Dental Council (BMDC). The academic atmosphere is driven by highly experienced professors, consultants, and medical specialists.
Admission Process & Eligibility Criteria
To secure admission into CMMC, local students must clear the centralized medical admission test conducted by the Directorate General of Medical Education (DGME).
Academic Eligibility: Candidates must have a combined GPA of at least 9.00 in SSC and HSC (or equivalent exam) from the Science group. A minimum GPA of 4.00 in Biology in both SSC and HSC is mandatory.
Selection Process: Selection is strictly merit-based. The total score is calculated out of 300 marks—100 marks from the written MCQ exam and 200 marks calculated based on SSC and HSC GPA results.
